This video helped me to better understand how different signs in throughout the equation effect/influence the graph. Thank you for the new vocabulary word (dilation).

Challenge question:

Direction of parabola: Opens up

y-intercept: (0,-4)

Zeros: No x-intercepts

Vertex: (2,-3)

I was a little confused. This helped me. (I thought the parabola would be opening downwards, but two people said up.)

I also thought the parabola opened downwards. After I posted my answer I even used the Desmos calculator to check. On that calculator it opened down. I think the people who said it opened up just made the simple mistake of not noticing the negative sign in front of the leading coefficient.

and why do people keep saying first when they're not first????

Thank you for posting this video. It let me learn the lesson I was absent for.

real answer:

parabola open downward
zeros: none since it is below the x-axis because of the -3
y intercept: (0,-4)
vertex: (2,-3)
axis of symmetry: x=2

It opens down, has y-value of (0,-4), vertex of (2,-3), axis of symmetry is x=2, is less steep, and has no zeros. I like that new game.

challenge question:
-reflected over x-axis
-dilation factor: 1/4 (widened the parabola)
-horizontally translated 2 spaces into the positive x values
-vertically translated into the negative y values 3 spaces
-new vertex: (2,3)

I got that it got smaller by -1/4, went over by +2, and it went down by 3. I don't think this is right, can you check it please? ( well I am confident but I don't know)
