Well if the triangle is just upside down then nothing is affected when solving. The hypotenuse is still "c".

But if you are asking if the hypotenuse can be the bottom base of a right triangle, then no it can't be. That would be one of the legs "a" or "b". The hypotenuse must be opposite the right angle.

The +/- should go in front of any answers that have been square rooted. Except in the case of word problems where it would not make sense.

Hey. I figured out the mistake. You didnt put a plus or a minus sign in front of the first 2 problems: x=4 and x=16

Avery if you have the hypotenuse on the bottom you could still solve as long as there is a right amgle

Good question and as we saw in class, it does not work. It only works with the sum of the squares.
