Can anyone think of a real life example of multiplying or dividing negatives?

Alright, I'll help you get started.

Anything in life that is "losing" value, going "down", or "below" could be a negative. Words like "per", "each" or "every" could mean multiply. And words like "average" or "split into" could could mean division.

Example: A company loses $50,000 every year for 3 years.
-50,000 x 3

A real life example of when you would divide or multiply negatives is when you are doing your taxes or bills.

Great example. As a former tax accountant I used to use integer multiplication to calculate how much money customers get back in taxes!

And every adult knows about paying bills. How will your bank account change if you pay $300 a month for a car for 60 months?
-300 x 60 = ?
