Out of all the names you could have chosen, Bert and Ernie are the two you pick.

Comment- I've seen this equation before...but I didn't know it had a name! Cool game!

Question- If you wanted to, could you plot each point on the graph from each set of data and make a line of best fit? Would the line of best fit include where the two numbers are the same?

Answer~ Hazel, you would not have a line of best fit because it is not a scatter plot -Ali K.

That's correct, line of best fit only applys to scatter plots. If you had two sets of data, each with its own line of best fit, then we could find an intersection point of those two lines of best fit!

Sounds like a good lesson! Hopefully this one will help with our data in our Analysis project!:)

Is there more than one method that is it more accurate than the other like is the table method the most acurate?

Well in class today ally we learned that the graph is the most accurate

Well, we have only learned using a table and graph. A table is probably more accurate than a graph but the graph is faster.

However, we will learn two more methods that are both faster and more accurate! Coming Soon....

Why do we need this method

Rose, this method makes it so that we can find when two different things intersect. The graphing method itself is just another way to help you solve it, if doing the problem algebraically isn't really your stile. :)

Comment~ this is cool and just like we learned today in class!

Answer~ Hazel, you would not have aline of best fit because it is not a scatter plot, and i do not know if scatter plots can intersect, but out seems like there would be a plot that over lap eventually.

Question~ How can you tell if a line is truely parallel? what if it has a slight decreasing or increasing rate of change? Also can you have two "lines" that are curves that intersect an you could till aply the same rules as you would for a system of linear equations?

A solution or intersection point only applies to lines, not scatter plots from collected data.

There are a number of ways to tell if two lines are parallel using angles that you will learn next year in Geometry. For now we could need to know the slope of each equation. We talked about in class how parallel lines have the same slope but different y-intercepts. Imagine two cars are different starting lines but going the same speed. They will never intersect.

Yes, we can apply the same rules for non-linear equations but this unit will only focus on lines. Great question!
